Most people think about the membrane when they think about a new TPO roof. Makes sense - it's the biggest part of the job. But here's the thing: the membrane is only part of the story. The flashing around skylights, vents, and penetrations is where water actually finds its way in when something goes wrong.

Skylight flashing is one of those details that separates a roof that lasts from one that becomes a problem in a few years. The skylight curb has to be wrapped properly, the flashing material has to be heat-welded tight, and every edge needs to be sealed the right way. There's no shortcut that holds up long-term.

On TPO installations, we treat every penetration like it's the most important part of the job - because honestly, it is. The membrane covering the field of the roof is straightforward. The transitions, the corners, the curb wraps - that's where skill and attention to detail actually show up in the finished product.

We've seen what happens when this part of the job is rushed. Water works its way under a poorly flashed curb, gets into the decking, and suddenly you've got a much bigger problem than a leaky roof. Doing it right the first time isn't just about quality - it's about protecting the building and everyone inside it.

Whether we're working on a small commercial building or a large flat roof with multiple skylights, the standard doesn't change. Every flashing detail gets the same care and workmanship. That's what long-term performance actually looks like.
